Sundown

Watch Mastery

Get the most out of Apple Watch capture, even when your phone is not nearby.

Mastering Apple Watch Capture

The Apple Watch is the fastest surface for Sundown. Here is how to make the most of it.

Complications are the shortcuts on your watch face. Use them for zero-navigation capture.

Graphic CornerRecord nowFits the corners of the latest watch faces.

How to set them up

  1. Long-press your watch face.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Swipe to Complications.
  4. Select a slot, find Sundown, and choose Record now.

Capture away from your phone

Sundown on Apple Watch works even when you are away from your iPhone.

  • Saved first: recordings are saved on the watch first.
  • Background transfer: once your watch is back in range of your iPhone, it transfers captures in the background.
  • Status indicators: check sync status from the watch app details screen.

Synced reminders

If you have set up capture reminders on your iPhone, they will fire locally on your watch.

  • Record now starts a recording immediately.
  • Snooze postpones the reminder by 10 minutes.
  • Skip dismisses the reminder for this specific cycle.

Pro tips

  • If you have an Apple Watch Ultra, map the Action Button to Start Quick Capture if that fits your routine.
  • Keep the watch face complication visible on the face you reach for most often.
