Sundown

Choosing Your Backup Mode

Choose between Sundown Cloud and on-device-only capture, with optional GitHub export configured separately.

Choosing Your Backup Mode

Sundown Cloud is the normal setup for most people. It keeps your transcripts, day views, and summaries in sync without extra setup.

If your plan uses GitHub export, that export runs separately after Sundown Cloud sync. GitHub is for advanced copies and automation, not the main backup mode.

Choose Sundown Cloud if you want the default product experience. Capture on one device, let Sundown sync in the background, and open the same day on your other devices.

How to set it up

  1. Open Sundown Settings > Integrations > Cloud backup.
  2. Select Sundown Cloud.
  3. Sign in when prompted.

Local-only option: On Device Only

Choose on-device-only mode if you do not want cloud backup. Capture still works, but cross-device sync and cloud features are unavailable until you enable Sundown Cloud.

How to set it up

  1. Open Sundown Settings > Integrations > Cloud backup.
  2. Select No cloud backup / on-device only.

GitHub export

GitHub export is an optional advanced integration. When enabled, Sundown can export readable copies such as daily Markdown, summaries, conversations, and transcript records after cloud sync completes.

Can I switch later?

Yes. You can move between backup modes later. Sundown Cloud remains the easiest managed experience, and GitHub export remains an optional add-on.
