Sundown

Apple Watch Setup

Put one-tap capture on the wrist.

Apple Watch Setup

Use Sundown on Apple Watch when your phone is not in your hand or when a wrist shortcut is the fastest way to save a thought.

Install and pair

  • Install Sundown on iPhone.
  • Confirm your Apple Watch is paired to that iPhone.
  • Open the Watch app on iPhone and make sure Sundown is installed on the watch.

Use the watch app

  • Open Sundown on Apple Watch.
  • Tap Record to begin.
  • Tap Stop & Save to keep the capture.
  • Tap Cancel to discard the in-progress recording.

Opening the watch app manually shows the record screen. It does not start a new recording until you tap Record.

Add a watch-face quick capture shortcut

  1. Press and hold the watch face.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Choose a compatible complication slot.
  4. Select Sundown.
  5. Pick the Record now complication.

Tapping that complication opens Sundown and starts recording immediately.

Add recurring capture reminders

  1. Open Sundown on iPhone.
  2. Tap Reminders.
  3. Create a reminder such as Work Log.
  4. Choose whether the reminder repeats.
  5. Pick the schedule, snooze length, and devices that receive the prompt.
  6. Leave the reminder enabled.

When a reminder appears on Apple Watch, Record now starts capture, Snooze postpones the prompt, and Skip dismisses that reminder cycle.

What happens after recording

  • The watch saves the audio locally first.
  • Transfer to the phone can happen later if the watch is offline or out of range.
  • The watch clears its pending state after the phone confirms it has the capture.

If the watch seems stuck

  • Open iPhone Settings > Advanced > Watch Connectivity Health.
  • Check pairing, app installation, and session status.
  • Run Force Sync with Watch.
  • Pull to refresh in Timeline on iPhone to request another watch handoff and phone sync pass.
